Job description

Accountable for ensuring the implementation, monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement of the Quality and Food Safety protocols within the warehouse.

Job Purpose

The role supports the warehouse team in maintaining adherence to a fit-for-purpose quality assurance and food safety framework. It involves coordinating quality and food safety assessments, following up on corrective plans, and ensuring the effective implementation, monitoring, and improvement of the Quality and Food Safety Management Systems. The role also includes conducting internal inspections and audits, managing pest control, and hygiene requirements within the DC.

Key Accountabilities and Outputs

Food Safety and Quality Management System

  • Participate in the Regional Food Safety Team to monitor and report on food safety adherence.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the Quality and Food Safety Management System.
  • Coordinate monthly Food Safety & Quality meetings at the warehouse.
  • Enforce Change Management Controls related to Food Safety.
  • Ensure all documentation, SOPs, checklists, etc., are completed accurately.
  • Assist in preparing the DC team for external audits.
  • Train DC staff on quality and food safety requirements, including product handling, storage, stock rotation, self-inspections, internal audits, non-conforming products, emergency preparedness, trade returns, and recalls.
  • Support investigations of FS-related complaints.
  • Assist with traceability and mock recall exercises.
  • Support regulatory inspections.
  • Implement and enforce all prerequisite programs (PRPs).
  • Manage trade returns in accordance with SOPs.
  • Ensure goods receiving and dispatch follow SOPs and records are maintained.
  • Manage the Code of Practice and segregation requirements for food and non-food items.
  • Enforce visitor and contractor policies.
  • Plan and coordinate internal audits and self-inspections.
  • Represent BEVCO during external and third-party audits.
  • Manage external audit findings, corrective actions, and verifications.
  • Address internal audit findings with timely corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and customer food safety and quality mandates.
  • Pest Control: Manage internal pest control and record-keeping, analyze trends, and conduct inspections for glass, foreign bodies, cleaning, lockers, and vehicle shunting.
  • Coordinate quality assurance assessments, identify weaknesses, evaluate controls, and create solutions.
  • Liaise with authorities for non-compliance issues.
  • Conduct final product inspections, packaging, labeling, incoming pallets, and root cause investigations.
  • Follow up on corrective actions and provide updates.
  • Support operational planning, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to operational, financial, and safety standards, including GMPs and legislative requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene, contamination control, and housekeeping.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum: National Diploma in Food Technology, Biotechnology, or Quality Management.
  • Up to 3 years’ operational experience; FMCG or warehouse experience is advantageous.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Email.
