Quality Engineer
We are currently recruiting a qualified Quality Engineer to join our team.
Job Purpose
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring customer processes and quality requirements are applied within programme and product specifications as set by the customer. The role involves aligning manufacturing activities to produce products that meet the customer's expected deliverables.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Investigate and eliminate actual or potential non-conformances using recognized quality problem-solving techniques.
- Implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Analyze product data using advanced SPC techniques.
- Conduct capability studies on data and advise on required actions.
- Act as Deputy PSB – Product Safety Representative.
- Promote continuous improvement philosophy.
- Ensure all test and inspection requirements are met and records are properly filed.
- Maintain and control all related documents as per quality system requirements.
- Control deviations from normal processing techniques, ensuring they are approved through recognized systems.
- Manage control of customer specifications and drawings.
- Ensure ongoing product compliance through product and process audits.
- Evaluate customer complaints and warranties, generating necessary documentation.
- Generate quality problem reports for suppliers when defective parts are received.
- Provide product training for Production and Quality staff.
- Promote and ensure compliance with company policies, including Environmental Management Systems, Health and Safety, and other relevant procedures.
- Ensure safety, health, and environmental issues are respected on company premises.
- Plan and coordinate projects for smooth introduction into production.
- Conduct QA functions as needed and ensure equipment and test devices are signed off using recognized techniques.
- Review, implement, and maintain unchangeables, work instructions, forms, FMEA, and control plans based on standards.
Key Performance and Result Areas
- Understand and apply customer and company quality requirements across manufacturing and supply chain.
- Analyze customer product data using statistical and quality techniques, ensuring regular testing at critical points.
- Control product documentation, maintain specifications, and identify deviations and non-compliance.
- Evaluate and progress customer ppm and warranty claims.
- Drive corrective actions through the supply chain for quick resolution.
- Coordinate change activities as a project team member.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Matric with Mathematics and a Mechanical Engineering qualification.
- Minimum two years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Technical background in metrology is advantageous.
- Relevant QMS and audit training, with a good understanding of inspection methodologies.
