Job description

Quality Engineer position available in Somerset West. A renowned Aviation Engineering company is looking for a Quality Engineer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in the Helderberg Area, Cape Town. Excellent salary (subject to background and experience) on offer and internal career advancement opportunities.

Requirements :
  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution is essential.
  2. A minimum of 3 years' experience in the manufacturing industry is essential.
  3. The ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods, work in a dusty and noisy environment with exposure to raw materials and/or finished products is essential.
  4. A willingness to travel locally and abroad on supplier and customer visits is essential.
  5. Experience in operating in a multi-project environment with different customers is advantageous.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work on a global level interfacing with diverse cultures is advantageous.
  7. Broad manufacturing knowledge regarding requirements covering design, certification, and production of aerospace products is advantageous.
  8. Expertise in ASD and POA Part 21G is advantageous.
  9. Expertise in composite design and manufacturing processes is advantageous.
  10. Expertise in Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and measuring is advantageous.
  11. Experience in SAP and 1Factory or equivalents is advantageous.
Key responsibilities :
  1. Have a clear understanding of Aerospace, customer, and composite quality requirements.
  2. Review and approve clear and robust inspection instructions to ensure customer expectations are met (incoming, moulding, stage, final, etc.).
  3. Manage requirements to certify and release components to customers.
  4. Show compliance to the customer requirements via compliance matrix, complete FAIs, source inspections, and coordinate customer inspections as required.
  5. Conduct lessons learned.
  6. Internal concession signs off & closure.
  7. Create and close off customer concessions.
  8. Facilitate FMEA.
