Job Description

To implement and maintain the quality system at the Geochem Randfontein facility, ensuring full compliance with ISO 17025, SGS SA high-level procedures, and SGS Global requirements.

  1. Operate with the highest standards of ethics as per SGS integrity programs.
  2. Maintain an up-to-date scope of testing, documentation, and standard operating procedures to comply with laboratory ISO accreditation.
  3. Evaluate data in a quality role without reporting opinions or interpretations.
  4. Facilitate and monitor the method validation process in the laboratory.
  5. Coordinate and administer the improvement system.
  6. Build relationships with technical and professional personnel, suppliers, and clients.
  7. Assist with evaluation and root cause analysis of proficiency tests, customer complaints, audit findings, and improvement requests.
  8. Provide quality-related training and awareness as needed.
  9. Plan and perform quality assessments to ensure effectiveness of quality control activities.
  10. Facilitate and plan management reviews.
  11. Ensure integrity of monthly inputs into the QSHE report.
  12. Statistically evaluate data.
  13. Develop a document control system aligned with SGS high-level system and ISO requirements.
  14. Guide laboratory personnel on quality control, documentation, methodologies, and data reporting.
  15. Provide feedback to management on laboratory quality status.
  16. Work with a safety-conscious attitude, demonstrating good work habits.
  17. Travel, shift work, and overtime may be required.
  18. Perform other tasks as assigned by the line manager.
  19. Refuse work that may damage the environment and report such situations.
  20. Contribute scientific and technical leadership to ensure effective quality assurance programs.
  21. Maintain impartiality in quality requirements.
  22. Manage SANAS accreditation and compliance matters (per Nominated Representative SANAS responsibilities).
  23. Ensure ISO 17025 accreditation is maintained.
  24. Identify non-conformances promptly to achieve customer satisfaction.
  25. Cease unsafe equipment use or hazardous environment entry and report to higher authorities.
  26. Stop work that may compromise service quality and report accordingly.
Qualifications
Education
  • BSc degree or diploma in science
  • ISO or College Quality Assurance Program Diploma
Experience
  • 5 years in a laboratory testing environment
  • 5 years experience with ISO systems (ISO 9000, 17025, or others)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft software
  • Experience in document and report writing
  • Knowledge of Statistical Quality Control (advantageous)
