Job summary

Bonafide Human Capital seeks a Quality Controller for an automotive dealer client in Bryanston. The role requires a qualified technician with at least 3 years in quality control within the motor industry. You will conduct road tests on completed vehicles to ensure workmanship meets standards.

You will collaborate with workshop foremen and technicians, assist with quick issue resolution, and ensure vehicles are prepared for customer handover in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Carry out road tests to confirm that work requested has been completed correctly.
• Inspect and test vehicles before they enter the workshop and after repairs.
• Ensure workshop remains neat and tidy; supervise wash bay and cleaners.
• Move completed vehicles to wash bay and arrange parking for collection.
• Sign off job cards when all work is completed to satisfaction.
• Monitor failed road tests and discuss action plans with Service Manager and Foreman.

Job description

A vacancy for a Quality Controller exists at our automotive dealer client based in Bryanston.

Must be a qualified technician with minimum 3 years’ experience as a Quality Controller in the motor industry.

Purpose of Job

• To ensure the quality of work from the workshop by carrying out road tests on completed vehicles.
• The outcome that is produced is well-maintained / repaired motor vehicles and will be considered successful when:
  • There are no comebacks.
  • Job is done right the first time.
  • Satisfied clients (SCSI).

Relationships and Personal Activities

• Directly responsible to the Service Manager.
• Relationships with workshop foreman, after-sales consultants, technicians, apprentices, and customers.

Main Job Functions

• Assist service reception when a vehicle is to be tested with a customer before it enters the workshop and inspect new vehicles.
• Assist with “small, waiting” repairs and help in getting the issue resolved quickly.
• Ensure workshop always stays neat and tidy and control the workshop cleaners.
• Ensure wash bay operates efficiently and control Wash Bay Staff.
• Check that work carried out on vehicle corresponds with work requested on job card.
• Carry out road tests to confirm that work requested had been completed correctly.
• Liaise with workshop foreman and technicians on failed road tests.
• Test each vehicle properly together with the foreman.
• Sign off job card timeously when satisfied that all work has been carried out correctly.
• Monitor number of failed road tests and discuss possible action plans with Service Manager and Workshop Foreman.
• Go out on minor breakdowns, ensuring the safety of the On‑Call vehicle and equipment.
• Move completed vehicles to the wash‑bay for cleaning.
• Assist in moving vehicles from wash‑bay and parking them in a known location for collection.
• Assist in moving vehicles into the workshop at the end of the day.
• Assist in moving vehicles out of the workshop in the mornings.
• Assist in preparing loan vehicles ready for customers.
• Carry out road tests with customers.
• Cross departmental disciplines.
