At Simera Sense, we design and manufacture world-class optical payloads for small satellites, where precision and reliability are non-negotiable. We are looking for a meticulous and proactive Quality Controller to join our team in Somerset West. In this role, you will play a critical part in upholding our high standards by inspecting components, verifying processes, and ensuring that every product meets our rigorous quality benchmarks. Job Purpose:

Oversee and examine production outputs to ensure that they conform to specifications and internal company standards as set out by Simera Sense.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of incoming components, parts, and assemblies to ensure they meet quality standards
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of sub-assemblies and integrated assemblies
  • Verify machine setups and conduct first article inspections on production lines
  • Assist engineering and production teams with investigations of failures and quality issues
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and ECSS
  • Maintain and improve quality control procedures and documentation
  • Keep accurate records of inspections, test results, and quality control activities
  • Compile defect reports and maintain logs of non-conformances
  • Prepare and maintain inspection checklists and quality control documentation
  • Review and verify the quality of incoming goods from suppliers
  • Manage non-conformance reports and coordinate with suppliers to resolve quality issues
  • Assist with the calibration and maintenance of inspection and testing equipment
  • Ensure all equipment is calibrated and maintained according to the schedule
  • Implement and maintain 5S workplace organisation and cleanliness standards
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency

Required Qualification:

Advanced Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in implementing and maintaining quality control procedures, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ASME) is crucial
  • Prior work in aerospace, manufacturing, or related fields where precision and adherence to strict quality standards are essential
  • Familiarity with MEP systems, quality control procedures, and industry-specific standards
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining quality control documentation and inspection test plans

Recommendations:

  • Knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100 and ECSS standards will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Simens Teamcenter.
