Overview

Job Vacancy: Quality Control Inspector. To support production by validating their ability to produce outputs with the best quality in a safe working environment / operation through conducting inspections at appropriate stages throughout production runs using measurement instruments and fixed gauges as well as recording of results from these inspections as per relevant instructions. Furthermore, by assisting in process control training, improvement and problem solving.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric with an overall pass mark of minimum 50% and the following subjects as a minimum: English, Mathematics (Normal, NOT Literacy), Science
• Tertiary Education (Advantageous): Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Similar Field of Study; OR Certificate in any Quality Assurance / Quality Control Field of Study
• Proven Knowledge in: Use of various measurement instruments; Use of Shadow Graphs, Load Indicators and Scales; Use of Basic functions in Microsoft Word & Excel; Interpretation of Product Drawings including customer specific requirements; Basic mathematical skills

Experience

• With Formal Education: Minimum 6 Months experience in a Manufacturing Environment
• Without Formal Education: Minimum 2 Years’ experience in a Manufacturing Environment of which a minimum of 1 year was in a QC inspector role

Responsibilities

• Verify accuracy and condition of measuring instruments
• Validate the First Off products as produced by Setters using measuring instruments and record results from these inspections as per relevant instructions
• Assist in Metrology related aspects pertaining to R&D
• Ensure that production personnel have the relevant QC resources to perform all their verification duties accurately
• Set up of Gauges to be used by operators during production, including the verification of dimensions and condition as per relevant instructions
• Conduct training on verification activities required by production personnel
• Audit the effective operation of production activities
• Continuously conduct patrol inspections to verify the conformance of processes against required standards as per relevant instructions
• Visually inspect the fit and form appearance of products against requirements as per relevant instructions
• Conduct line clearances of scrap parts produced by setters and operators as well as recording of scrap quantities as per relevant instructions
• Stop relevant production machines and raise Non-Conformance Reports where processes are deviating from the required standards
• Isolate or quarantine and control non-conforming parts as per relevant instructions
• Update and file relevant QC records as required
• Maintain proper housekeeping standards as per relevant requirements and instructions
• Work in a manner that does not present risk to the health & safety of any person on site
• Conducting destructive Tests using pressurized equipment on components, sub-assemblies and assemblies on a frequent basis as required by the process
• Assessing the conformity of products tested based on Failure Load and Failure Mode
• Entering of results as data into Data Entry Software
• Drawing conclusions and making recommendations or escalations based on data analysis
• Compiling and communicating Reports and COC’s from results
• Managing Testing Equipment, Method, and Control as well as the Setup configuration
• General administration, reporting and updating relevant registers as may be required
• Ad-Hoc destructive testing and reporting as may be required from time to time
• Carry out any reasonable and legal instructions as operationally required by this role
