The position will be based in Wadeville, and the incumbent will report to the Manager : Quality Control.

Job Specification (not totally inclusive)

  1. Supervise QC activities and oversee day-to-day quality control operations on the production floor.
  2. Ensure QC inspectors and technicians follow testing and inspection procedures correctly and in compliance with KMC Standards.
  3. Ensure that all products, services, or work processes meet internal standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, SANSF).
  4. Interpret KMC fabrication/machining drawings, specifications, and manufacturing quality standards.
  5. Record and analyze results to detect production issues; identify and address defects, raise quality notifications, and investigate non-conformities, product failures, and lead CAPA initiatives.
  6. Maintain accurate QC records, including inspection reports, test results, and compliance documents.
  7. Report defects, delays, and progress to QC managers or project leaders and operations.
  8. Train and guide QC team members in quality standards procedures and assign tasks to QC staff.
  9. Recommend process improvements based on inspection data and performance trends.
  10. Support lean manufacturing or Six Sigma initiatives if applicable.
  11. Ensure safety procedures are followed during inspections and production.

Minimum Skills Required

  • Qualified artisan with trade papers and a certificate in Quality Management.
  • Must have an N6 Engineering qualification or equivalent.
  • A degree in Operations Management / Engineering is an advantage.
  • At least 8 years of quality/manufacturing experience, with 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in visual welding inspection.
  • Strong product knowledge and familiarity with underground mining operations is highly desirable.
  • Sound technical understanding of manufacturing and assembly principles.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with technical tools, measuring instruments, testing equipment, and computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
