A leading company in the food processing sector seeks a Quality Control Manager for their Cannery Department in Stompneus Bay. This role involves ensuring compliance with food safety systems, managing documented quality controls, and overseeing internal audits to maintain the highest standards. Candidates should possess a relevant degree or diploma and have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role in FMCG.
The following permanent position has become available within our Cannery Department.
This position will operate from Stompneus Bay.
The incumbent will report to the Quality Assurance Manager.
The successful incumbent will ensure compliance with all aspects of document control related to the Food Safety Systems and international certification bodies.
Management of all documented systems, including but not limited to:
Daily management of QC's / QC Supervisor.
Management of Internal Defects.
Manage the conduction of Quality Standards Checks and take appropriate actions to ensure 100% compliance.
Ensure all legislative requirements are met across the plant.
Operational management of quality control and assurance, FSSC/ISO, and HACCP.
Participation in internal audits, external audits, customer visits, and handling complaints.
Monitoring and investigating product complaints and returns.
Reporting on compliance with company and regulatory standards in both plant and warehouse facilities.
Assistance during Plant Trials.
Implement initiatives as directed by Food Safety & Quality Management.
Willingness to work shifts and overtime as needed.
Perform any other duties that develop in an evolving environment.
Minimum of 2 years of food processing (FMCG) experience in a similar role.
Knowledge of HACCP (food safety), ISO Systems, SHEQ.
Knowledge of FSSC 22000.
Previous Quality Control experience in an FMCG environment is advantageous.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Ability to work systematically and independently.
Accountability for results and team management.
Systems-oriented approach.
Grade 12.
Degree/Diploma in Food Science & Technology, Biochemistry, or Food Microbiology.
Certificates in Occupational Health & Safety, HACCP, and FSSC Implementation are advantageous.
