Position Overview
The job purpose of a Quality Assurance Specialist (Tech) at Pineapple Tech PTY LTD is to ensure the seamless functionality and reliability of the short-term insurance web and app-based platforms. This includes identifying and resolving technical bugs, conducting efficient testing of new features, maintaining a daily Bug Report for management, collaborating with stakeholders, and contributing to automated testing processes.
The role aims to enhance overall product quality, facilitate frequent stable releases, and provide exceptional user experiences within the dynamic landscape of the insurtech industry.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Address Technical Bugs: Attend to technical bugs reported by users while using the app. Troubleshoot and provide solutions to resolve technical issues promptly.
- Testing: Ensure testing activities are conducted efficiently and within the expected turnaround time for testing tickets. Test new features and products to identify and report any issues.
- Bug Reporting: Maintain a daily Bug Report, summarising the status of reported issues and providing regular updates to management.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that appropriate use cases are considered in testing, contributing to the delivery of frequent and stable releases.
- Collaboration within the Team: Liaise with other members of the Pineapple team to address issues related to automated testing. Collaborate with team members to resolve issues and implement suggestions related to testing processes.
- Resolution of Processes: Drive the resolution of processes that involve 3rd party service providers to enhance overall product quality.
- Escalation and Communication: Escalate matters to higher levels of management when necessary. Attend and prepare for daily stand-up meetings to provide updates on testing progress.
- Client Interaction: Communicate directly with clients when required, addressing their concerns and gathering feedback on product quality.
- Support and Mentorship: Assist and mentor team members and interns, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Automation and Optimisation: Automate and optimise various testing requirements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Value Addition: Contribute to product improvement by providing insights and suggestions based on testing observations. Explore opportunities to add value to other facets of the business, aligning with skills and expertise.
- Professional Development: Take personal ownership of professional development within the Pineapple organization.
Qualifications and Skills
- BSci Computer Science / BCom Applied Information Systems or related field of study.
- Experience with both manual and automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Jest).
- Familiarity with Agile / Scrum development processes.
- Experience with performance and/or security testing.
- Experience with MongoDB and MongoDB queries using Robo3T or similar tools.
- Experience with continuous integration tools (e.g., Circle CI).
Candidate Profile
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to problem solve.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Awareness of common Insurtech solutions and trends.
