Job description

Company in Kempton Park, Gauteng, South Africa. This position reports to the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager and includes day-to-day reporting. The QA Officer assists the QA Manager with:

  • Preparation and performance of quality audits, surveys, and inspections, and facilitating any corrective actions required;
  • Providing guidance and direction for the planning, implementation, and operation of the organization's Quality Assurance Systems;
  • Conducting investigations of internal safety events in accordance with the procedures specified in the Quality Assurance Manuals;
  • Stopping or prohibiting unsafe operations.

Nature and Scope

The position requires adaptability to changing circumstances with minimal supervision. Flexibility is essential as assignments may be scheduled with little notice and outside normal hours. The QA Officer must interact with operational personnel, senior managers, and departmental heads across the organization.

Duties Include, but are not limited to:

  1. Quality Assurance
  • Perform quality audits and inspections according to the schedule; identify findings and assess severity according to organizational procedures;
  • Record concerns or findings with evidence, and submit documentation to the QA Manager for report preparation;
  • Ensure the QA Manager is informed on quality matters;
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining the Quality Assurance Program;
  • Verify root cause analyses, advise on corrective actions, and track implementation;
  • Maintain all quality, audit, and inspection records;
  • Develop and complete quality documentation;
  • Prepare renewal documentation for SACAA submissions.
  • Document Control
    • Organize, archive, and safeguard documents electronically and physically;
    • Ensure documents are retrievable and comply with retention schedules;
    • Manage document requests and updates efficiently.
  • Training Administration
    • Maintain training records and database;
    • Book and notify employees of required training;
    • Coordinate with training providers and manage in-house facilities;
    • Assist with invoicing and payments.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Approved Quality Assurance and Lead Auditing courses or equivalent;
    • Minimum 5 years' experience in aviation after qualification;
    • Knowledge of Aviation Legislation and ICAO Annexes;
    • Experience in aviation Quality Assurance;
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
    • Strong attention to detail, integrity, and work ethic;
    • Excellent communication skills in English;
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
