Job summary

Cape Olive Products in Paarl, Western Cape, is seeking a Quality Assurance Co-ordinator to lead QC across production and packing lines, uphold HACCP and ISO/FSSC food safety systems, and ensure audit readiness.

You will investigate non-conformances, liaise with suppliers, support internal and external audits, and maintain rigorous records while championing health, safety and ESG commitments.

Qualifications

• Matric is essential.
• 3–5 years in QA or food safety in a food production/processing environment.
• Strong HACCP knowledge and familiarity with ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce quality control procedures across production and packing.
• Conduct inspections, sampling and testing of materials and finished products.
• Maintain HACCP, food safety and quality management documentation.

Cape Olive Products is an established olive farming and processing business based in the Western Cape. We specialise in producing and packing high-quality table olives, olive oil, pickled onions and fermented jalapeños.

Position: Quality Assurance Co-ordinator
Location: Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa
Employment Type: Permanent, full-time
Reporting To: Quality & Food Safety Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor, update and enforce quality control procedures across production and packing lines.
• Conduct routine inspections, sampling and testing of raw materials, in-process products and finished goods.
• Maintain HACCP, food safety and quality management system documentation.
• Investigate non-conformances, deviations and customer complaints, implementing corrective actions as required.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding incoming raw material quality and specifications.
• Support internal, customer and certification body audits.
• Train and guide production and packing staff on quality, hygiene and food safety standards.
• Maintain accurate, audit-ready quality records and reports.
• Maintain and support the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) system.
• Serve as a member of the Health and Safety Committee, including preparing and distributing minutes.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum education: Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.
• 3–5 years’ practical experience in a quality assurance or food safety role within a food production or processing environment is required.
• A formal qualification in Food Technology, Quality Management or a related discipline is advantageous; however, strong practical experience will be equally valued.
• Sound working knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards such as ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000.
• Exceptional attention to detail and meticulous record-keeping skills.
• Professional communication abilities, with confidence in liaising with suppliers, clients and colleagues.
• Strong computer literacy.
• Own reliable transport.
• Willingness to work flexible hours during harvest and peak packing seasons.
