Cape Olive Products (Pty) Ltd. in the Western Cape is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Co-ordinator to safeguard product quality and food safety across our production and packing operations.

You will monitor quality control procedures, conduct inspections and testing, maintain HACCP/ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000 documentation, and support audits with strong record-keeping and communication with suppliers and staff.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 is essential.
  • 3–5 years’ hands-on experience in QA or food safety within food production or processing.
  • Formal qualification in Food Technology or Quality Management advantageous, practical experience valued equally.
  • Sound knowledge of HACCP and food safety systems (ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000).

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, update and enforce quality control procedures across production and packing lines.
  • Conduct routine inspections, sampling and testing of raw materials, in-process products and finished goods.
  • Maintain HACCP, food safety and quality management system documentation.
  • Investigate non-conformances and customer complaints; implement corrective actions.
  • Liaise with suppliers on incoming material quality and specifications.
  • Support internal, customer and certification audits.
  • Train staff on quality, hygiene and food safety standards; maintain audit-ready records.
  • Maintain and support ESG system; participate in Health and Safety Committee.

Job description

Cape Olive Products (Pty) Ltd. is an olive farming and processing operation based in the Western Cape, producing and packing high-quality table olives, olive oil, pickled onions and fermented jalapeños. We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Co-ordinator to safeguard product quality and food safety across our production and packing operations.

LOCATION: Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Permanent, full-time.

REPORTING STRUCTURE: The Quality Assurance Co-ordinator will report directly to the Quality & Food Safety Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor, update and enforce quality control procedures across the production and packing lines.
  • Conduct routine inspections, sampling and testing of raw materials, in-process products and finished goods.
  • Maintain HACCP, food safety and quality management system documentation.
  • Investigate non-conformances, deviations and customer complaints, and implement corrective action.
  • Liaise with suppliers on incoming raw material quality and specifications.
  • Support internal, customer and certification body audits.
  • Train and guide production and packing staff on quality, hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready quality records and reports.
  • Maintain and support the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) system.
  • Serve as a member of the Health and Safety Committee, including taking and distributing minutes.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.
  • 3–5 years’ hands-on experience in a quality assurance or food safety role within a food production or processing environment is essential.
  • A formal qualification in Food Technology, Quality Management or a related field is advantageous; strong, demonstrated practical experience will be weighted equally.
  • Sound working knowledge of HACCP and food safety systems such as ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000.
  • High attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
  • Professional communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with suppliers, clients and staff
  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Own reliable transport.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours during the harvest and peak packing season.
