Quality & Food Safety Coordinator Operations
Job Purpose: Quality & Food Safety provides leadership to ensure Food Manufacturing facilities maintain effective Food Safety systems, including HACCP, cGMPs, and ongoing compliance and certification to FSSC requirements.
Key Accountabilities and Outputs:
- Develop and maintain Food Safety and Quality Management programs (including PRP & HACCP, site security) in line with Corporate Food Safety standards and certifications (FSSC22000, GMP+, ISO9001, Halal, Kosher, etc.).
- Serve as HACCP coordinator for the facility.
- Facilitate continuous improvement through Problem Solving/Problem Solving Group activities.
- Verify adherence to standards through layered confirmation processes.
- Analyze & report on Quality Performance Metrics, identify performance gaps, trends, and improvement opportunities.
- Conduct factory-based Quality audits for compliance verification.
- Implement these programs organization-wide.
- Coordinate internal, third-party, and customer audits.
- Create Food Safety awareness through training and campaigns.
- Manage Supplier & External Manufacturer qualification related to FSQR.
- Coordinate recalls as HACCP Coordinator.
- Manage HACCP and SSOP validations and verifications.
- Identify and monitor potential sources of contamination within product flow.
- Document and track KPIs such as service levels, lead times, and first-time right, reporting trends to the Lead.
- Support action plans developed by the Quality Manager.
- Develop and maintain technical specifications.
- Manage plant audit processes and ensure compliance of branded products.
- Maintain documentation like SOPs and SSOPs related to product quality and GMP.
- Ensure cleanliness of lines and adherence to Good Lab Practices.
- Ensure accurate sampling and analysis of products, adhering to testing schedules.
- Foster positive collaboration with Operations.
- Escalate quality or food safety risks to relevant heads.
- Adhere to health, safety, food, and environmental standards, policies, and PRPs.
- Enforce PPE use, hygiene policies, and conduct visitor/contractor management.
- Maintain high personal hygiene standards and control measures to prevent physical contamination.
- Ensure health and safety hazards are managed, reporting incidents as needed.
- Ensure staff are trained, compliant, and vigilant regarding food defense and fraud risks.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and proper storage within designated areas.
- Assist with other work as needed beyond the job description.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 / Matric & Min. National Diploma in Food Tech, Analytical Chemistry.
- Up to 3 years' experience in FMCG operations, particularly with bottling equipment.
- Basic skills in MS Excel, Word, and Email.
