Job description

Our client, based in Johannesburg in the Gases industry, is looking for a SHEQ Officer to join their team.

Salary: R27 000 CTC, based on experience

Position Info:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric
  • 3 - 5 years relevant experience in the SHEQ-related field
  • SAMTRAC certificate or equivalent occupational SHE training or diploma
  • Technical or (in chemistry / mechanical) diploma
  • Qualification / experience in warehouse management is advantageous
Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate incidents
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 9001:2015, MHI, EIA, AIA standards
  • Read and write reports; analyze information
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong MS Excel skills
  • Report on the company’s safety performance in SHEQ meetings and conduct site audits for statutory and regulatory compliance
  • Implement and monitor key requirements of SANS codes, SAGA, SACGA, NERSA, PER, and other legal standards
  • Establish and implement HAZCHEM and HAZOP requirements
  • Assist in implementing MHI (Major Hazardous Installation) and EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment)
  • Conduct health, safety, and technical audits at depots and customer sites
  • Coordinate regular emergency response exercises and drills
  • Maintain health and safety standards in a highly technical, complex industrial environment
  • Willingness to travel to sites using company or personal vehicle
