A qualified Red Seal Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles.

The role requires in-depth knowledge of automotive systems and the ability to work with the latest diagnostic tools and technologies to ensure that vehicles are safe, reliable, and meet all regulatory requirements.

The technician must deliver high-quality service to meet customer satisfaction.

Remuneration R P.A – negotiable according to experience, plus performance-based incentives – Benefits including Provident Fund, Medical Aid.

Duties include:

1. Establish parts required for service or repairs to be performed and ensure that correct parts are ordered.
2. Report to foreman promptly on any additional work required.
3. Obtain authorization prior to carrying out additional work.
4. Obtain technical information from Foreman on problem jobs.
5. Adhere strictly to technical specifications laid down by the OEM.
6. Perform duties according to manufacturer's standards.
7. Write short but concise descriptions of all work performed on the back of the job card including the cause and correction.
8. Ensure that all old parts are placed in a plastic bag in the boot of the car, except in the case of warranty work where old parts must be tagged and returned to the control tower.
9. Ensure that all oils and consumables used are booked on the job card.
10. Ensure that the vehicle is kept as clean as possible, and that seat and fender covers are used.
11. Ensure that the work area is kept safe, clean, and tidy.
12. Ensure that time recording – Clocking on time sheet is done correctly and as soon as possible after work is completed.
13. Report any faulty and/or broken equipment to the Foreman.
14. Ensure that special tools and equipment are used with the utmost care.
15. Possess a complete set of own hand tools as per M.I.F.
16. Accept responsibility for apprentices/learners and impact through explanation and practice, the necessary skills required to perform the job correctly and thereafter to inspect/monitor the work and rectify any problems.
17. Maintain a neat appearance.
18. Maintain cordial relationships with workshop staff.
19. No private property in customer's vehicles must be removed.
20. Any components, parts, accessories, and/or assemblies removed from customer's vehicles must be kept together, stored safely, and recorded for easy recognition of ownership, repair, replacement, and/or correct re-assembly on the specific vehicle.
21. No components, parts, accessories, and/or assemblies/sub-assemblies, once removed as described, must be damaged, other than already previously quoted.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as an automotive technician, preferably with VW, Honda, Mazda, Haval, Chery, Toyota, Suzuki
• Motor Mechanic Trade Test Certificate – Red Seal
• PC Literate
• Valid Driver's License
• Clear Criminal record
• Stable work track record
• Sober habits
• Ability to work well under pressure and be target-driven
