Job summary

Mototeam is seeking a Senior Heavy Vehicle Motor Mechanic to advance to Truck Workshop Section Leader. The ideal candidate is a trade-tested diesel mechanic with strong leadership skills to keep our fleet running smoothly.

In the role, you will supervise a team of junior mechanics and apprentices, perform advanced diagnostics, and ensure repairs meet safety and quality standards while managing workshop workflow and enforcing health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5–8 years of post-apprenticeship experience working on heavy vehicles, commercial trucks, and fleet transport.
• Proven experience supervising, leading, or managing a team in a workshop environment.
• Advanced knowledge of commercial truck engines, gearboxes, hydraulics, air brakes, and electronic diagnostic systems.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a valid heavy vehicle license with a clean track record.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and allocate daily tasks to a team of junior mechanics and apprentices within your section.
• Diagnostics & Diagnostics: Perform advanced diagnostics, fault-finding, and complex mechanical/electrical repairs on fleet trucks and heavy vehicles.
• Quality Control: Oversee and sign off on all repair work within your section to ensure it meets safety and company standards.
• Workflow Management: Manage job cards, track turnaround times, and ensure workshop floor efficiency.
• Safety First: Enforce strict health and safety (OHS) regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
