We need a Qualified Psychologist who is passionate about helping people with complex mental health needs. Working on a part-time basis (20 hours per week), you will join our Acute female ward at Cygnet Nield House.

Cygnet Nield House in Crewe is our 29-bed mental health hospital for women.

Cygnet Nield House has two distinct wards, each offering specialist mental health services:

Compton Ward:

A 15-bed acute service for women providing a safe environment for those experiencing an acute mental health episode requiring emergency admission.

Your Day-to-Day
  • Work 40 hours a week
  • Collaborate as a team Psychologist within the multidisciplinary team (MDT) on Compton Ward
  • Conduct psychological assessments & provide individual and group therapies
  • Develop care plans with the MDT
  • Provide training, supervision, and consultation to colleagues and teams
  • Evaluate the service, contribute to its development, and carry out clinical research
  • Disseminate outcomes via conference presentations and publications
Candidate Requirements
  • HCPC registered Psychologist or awaiting registration (newly qualified)
  • Experience in clinical, forensic, or mental health settings
  • Interest or experience in acute/PICU services
  • Training or interest in brief solution-focused therapies and/or trauma-informed work
  • Passionate about working with complex mental health needs
  • Ability to treat issues like self-harm, physical, and verbal aggression
