Job summary

SA Metal Group (Pty) Ltd in Cape Town is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform mechanical inspections on production machinery and follow the in-house maintenance program. You will undertake routine preventative maintenance on hydraulic systems, conveyors, lubrication tasks, V-belts and general housekeeping, ensuring machines stay productive and safe.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mechanical inspections on production machinery
• Comply with in-house maintenance program and procedures
• Perform routine planned and preventative maintenance including hydraulic systems, conveyors, lubrication, V-belts and housekeeping
• Attend breakdowns on production machinery
• Fault finding on hydraulic systems
• Assemble and pressure test hydraulic cylinders
• Service hydraulic components
• Coach semi-skilled staff
• Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting mechanical inspections on all production machinery

• Compliance and adherence to the company in-house maintenance program and procedures

• Responsible for conducting routine planned and preventative maintenance including hydraulic systems, conveyor belts, lubrication tasks, V-belts replacements, general housekeeping

• Attend breakdowns when required on all production machinery

• Fault finding on hydraulic systems

• Assembly and pressure testing of hydraulic cylinders

• Servicing of hydraulic components

• Provide coaching to semi-skilled staff

• Adhering to the regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
