Job summary

SA Metal Group is seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated person to join the Fitters department in a permanent capacity. The role involves conducting mechanical inspections, adhering to the in-house maintenance program, and performing preventative maintenance on hydraulic systems and production machinery.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting hydraulic faults, maintaining hydraulics components, and coaching semi-skilled staff.

Qualifications

• Must have minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a heavy industry or similar environment.
• Must be physically fit and able to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mechanical inspections on all production machinery.
• Perform routine planned and preventative maintenance.
• Service hydraulic components and test hydraulic cylinders.
• Attend breakdowns on production machinery and fault find hydraulics.
• Provide coaching to semi-skilled staff.
• Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.

Job description: The Engineering Department currently has a vacancy for an attentive to detail, self-motivated and dedicated individual to join their team in the Fitters department.

The Duties and responsibilities will include:

Conducting mechanical inspections on all production machinery when required

Compliance and adherence to the Company in-house maintenance program and procedures

Responsible for conducting routine planned and preventative maintenance:

Hydraulic systems (leaks repairs, Filter change outs)

Conveyor belts, drives, pulleys and replacement of rollers

V-belts replacements

Attend breakdowns when required on all Production machinery

Fault finding on hydraulic systems

Assembly and pressure testing of hydraulic cylinders

Servicing of various hydraulic components

Provide coaching to semi-skilled staff

Adhering to the regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act

Qualifying Criteria:

Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent

Minimum 5 years' experience in a heavy industry or similar environment

Must be physical fit and able to work at heights and in confined spaces

Strong Hydraulic background will be an advantage

Qualifying Attributes:

Must be able to work with minimum supervision

Basic computer proficiency

Enjoy practical and manual work & be able to work in a pressurized environment

Ability to work independently as well as in a team

Self-motivated and results orientated

Must have sober habits

Willingness to work overtime when required

Must be a team player

Sound understanding of an array of tools and technical equipment

Standard hours:

07h30-17h00: Monday - Thursday

07h30-16h00: Friday

May be required to work overtime as per operational requirements
