Job description

The Ideal Candidate Would Be Responsible For

  1. Ensuring staff are adequately trained and fully understand all tasks to be performed.
  2. Taking full responsibility for all labour-related issues, including managing all positions at all times.
  3. Managing timesheets and overtime.
  4. Having full control of production processes and responsibility for maintaining production standards.
  5. Maintaining standards in terms of quality, process flows, volumes, and food hygiene.
  6. Engaging in ongoing communication with production and engineering staff, as well as with all senior management.
  7. Raising non-conformances and conducting effective root cause analysis.
  8. Ensuring timely and continuous verification of effective corrective actions.
  9. Assisting all departments to comply with food safety, quality, and animal welfare standards.
  10. Ensuring QC activities comply with legal, customer, and company policies and procedures.
  11. Maintaining and implementing the 20 key principles in the QC workplace.
  12. Adhering to Astral’s ethics policy.
  13. Managing timesheets and overtime.
  14. Handling disciplinary matters appropriately and in accordance with company policies.
  15. Monitoring and verifying all QC online checks to ensure compliance with legal and customer requirements.

The Successful Candidate Must Meet The Following Requirements

  1. A Matric Certificate or equivalent.
  2. A Diploma or BTech in Environmental Health or Food Technology.
  3. At least 5 years of experience in a production environment.
  4. Possession of a PME/PMI qualification.
  5. Willingness to work shifts.
  6. Good supervisory and interpersonal skills.
  7. Computer literate.
  8. Ability to work independently and handle pressure well.
  9. Professional staff management and leadership by example.
  10. Training in Food Safety, HACCP, and Root Cause Analysis.
