Job Title: QC Microbiologist (Full-Time)
Location: Ndabeni, Cape Town

Reports to: QC Manager

Overview

Barrs Pharmaceuticals is seeking a detail-oriented QC Microbiologist to join our Quality Control Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for microbiological analyses, including sample testing, method validation, and ensuring compliance with Good Microbiological Laboratory Practices (GMLP) in a non-sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and stability samples.
  • Perform environmental monitoring, water testing, and media preparation.
  • Maintain adherence to industry regulations (SAHPRA, WHO).
  • Support investigations for Out of Specification (OOS) and Out of Trend (OOT) results.
  • Participate in method validation, equipment qualification, and process validation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) procedures.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology or a related field (Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences).
    Experience: 2-3 years' experience in a pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory.
    Technical Skills: Proficiency in microbiological testing methods, aseptic techniques, and data integrity principles.
    Behavioral Competencies: Strong work ethic, adaptability, problem-solving, and commitment to quality.
