Main purpose of position

We are currently looking for a Civil Quality Control Supervisor in Kathu, South Africa, to join our global team working towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Civil Quality Control Supervisor, you will ensure that quality monitoring on site is performed, inspections are conducted, contractors comply with the Project Quality Plan, and punch lists are followed up and closed out while liaising with Contractor Construction Supervisors & Engineers.

Main responsibilities
  • Report daily to the Site Quality Lead on planned versus actual progress of quality inspections, sign-offs, and punch list management.
  • Engage proactively with contractors’ supervisors to optimize daily progress and inspections, and monitor contractor compliance with the Project Quality Plan at all times.
  • Ensure all work is compliant with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
  • Review and follow up on contractor’s QC registers, including non-conformance reports, QCP, ITP checklists, and punch lists.
  • Perform site inspections.
  • During commissioning and mechanical completion, follow up on open punch items, sign off closed punches by suppliers, and participate in Site Acceptance Tests.
  • Participate in project meetings as required.
  • Identify, advise, and report issues and risks related to HSE.
  • Maintain up-to-date quality records, including registers, punch lists, ITPs, and checklists.
  • Manage inspection equipment registers, calibrations, and certificates.
  • Pay special attention to hidden works, process testing, and materials using Civil Check Lists.
  • Ensure completion, review, and sign-off of Red Line, Single Line diagrams, and As-built drawings; update registers accordingly.
  • Verify that all pre-commissioning site acceptance testing has been completed, signed off, and complies with the Operation & Maintenance Manual and requirements.
Qualifications and competencies
  • Technical National Civil Trade Certificate with at least 5 years of site experience.
  • Proof of internship/apprenticeship at a reputable civil construction institution (e.g., ESKOM, governmental sector) with 10+ years of experience on large-scale projects.
  • Formal quality qualification (Six Sigma Green/Black Belt).
  • Certified in quality inspection with 15+ years of QC experience, with references for construction project achievements.
  • Proficient in Quality Management Systems.
  • Experienced with ISO 9001:2015 and IEC standards.
  • Fully computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
