Job summary

Procera Group in South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal, seeks a Tester to ensure software quality before deployment. You will plan tests, create test cases, execute tests manually or with automation, report defects, and validate fixes, while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes regression testing, documentation, and continuous improvement, with office-based work from 08:00 to 16:30 and a strong focus on security test cases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience in software testing, preferably in a professional setting.
• Familiarity with testing methodologies, tools, and techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of programming languages and scripting (e.g., Python, JavaScript) is a plus.
• Experience with automated testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit, or similar is desirable.
• Experience writing and executing SQL queries for testing and data verification purposes.

Responsibilities

• Test Planning: Develop comprehensive test plans based on project requirements and specifications.
• Test Case Creation: Create detailed and effective test cases covering all aspects of software functionality.
• Test Execution: Execute test cases manually and/or using automated testing tools to identify defects and inconsistencies.
• Defect Reporting: Report bugs and issues accurately and promptly using designated tracking tools, providing necessary information for resolution.
• Regression Testing: Conduct regression testing to ensure that previously identified issues have been addressed and that new changes have not introduced additional problems.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with developers, designers, and product managers to understand requirements, discuss defects, and ensure alignment on quality objectives.
• Documentation: Maintain documentation of test cases, test results, and testing processes for future reference and knowledge sharing.
• Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the improvement of testing processes and methodologies by providing feedback and suggestions based on experience and industry best practices.
• Adaptability: Adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and timelines, while still maintaining a high level of quality in testing activities.
• Communication: Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, providing updates on testing progress, issues, and recommendations.
• Quality Assurance: Design and execute test cases that validate security requirements. Collaborate with developers to retest and validate fixes for security defects.
