Job description

RPO Recruitment's client is urgently seeking an experienced Strategic Purchasing Manager in Gauteng.

The successful candidate will lead the procurement and purchasing category of the company, driving strategic sourcing and compliance within the business unit, while aligning with group practices.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Developing, implementing, and managing sourcing strategies in line with GI strategy to reduce costs without compromising quality.
  2. Leading category management initiatives, procurement transactions, operational activities, and achieving sourcing savings and process improvement targets.
  3. Conducting formal and informal meetings with senior management to execute strategic objectives for GI.
  4. Understanding the business strategy, customer needs, and product offerings to effectively communicate and deploy the vision within the department.
  5. Developing and implementing sourcing strategies through RFx, Double Source, BBBEE to optimize price, quality, and delivery.
  6. Developing, documenting, and implementing the division's procurement processes to drive efficiency, cost savings, and profitability.
  7. Leading according to GIM's culture and values, adhering to SaintGobain Principles and Conduct and Action.
  8. Overseeing HR issues related to recruitment, development, training, and succession planning, with support from the Human Resources Department.
  9. Assisting in preparing, approving, implementing, and controlling the annual procurement budget.
  10. Managing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting and reviews against targets and budgets.
  11. Developing and implementing purchasing and contract management policies, procedures, and charters.
  12. Managing the supply base and monitoring supplier performance.

Requirements:

  • Matric
  • 3-year BCom Degree or Diploma
  • SAPICS / CIPS Certification (essential)
  • 7+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement roles
  • Specific knowledge of steel buying (essential)
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of administration and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
