Position: Purchasing Assistant

Location: East London (on-site)

Package: Up to £35k

In this role, you will be accountable for assisting with the daily procurement and delivery of a diverse range of products, sourced from both UK and international suppliers.

The role involves:

  1. Reviewing sales reports and pre-orders to identify sold and pre-sold items.
  2. Ensuring stock levels are sufficient to fulfill current and upcoming orders while minimizing waste.
  3. Making quick, accurate decisions on product quantities to order.
  4. Entering supplier orders into the system.
  5. Working with the Goods In Manager to address any discrepancies in price, quality, specification, or quantity received versus invoiced.
  6. Checking and verifying delivery notes and invoices.
  7. Managing and following up with suppliers on credit note requests.
  8. Collaborating with the sales team on special, forward, and custom product orders.
  9. Assisting and reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager.

The candidate should:

  1. Have a good grasp of Excel and IT systems.
  2. Have a clear understanding of the demands and challenges within a quality-focused perishable foodservice business.
  3. Have strong negotiation abilities and a talent for developing supplier relationships.
  4. Have a good understanding of sales, warehousing, logistics, and pricing.
