Public Health Wet Services / Fire Engineers - Durban
A large consulting company with offices around the world is looking for Public Health (wet services) / Fire Engineers to join any of their offices across South Africa.
Minimum Requirements
- BEng / BSc / BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional / candidate registration with ECSA
- Minimum of 5 – 10+ years of postgraduate relevant, multi-disciplinary experience, preferably within a consulting engineering environment
- BIM and Revit experience are mandatory
- Experience with BIM360, Revizto, Dynamo, and Python is advantageous
- Demonstrable experience in public health & fire engineering with in-depth knowledge
- Experience with data centres / mission-critical / industrial facilities is advantageous
- Extensive knowledge of local and international standards and codes
- Accurate, detail-oriented, with good organizational skills (planning and prioritizing)
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines and work under pressure
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Responsibilities
- Provide drainage (sanitary, storm water, specialist effluent), fire (sprinklers and firefighting equipment infrastructure), potable/non-potable water reticulation (including hot water generation), and medical gas services as a Public Health and Fire Engineer / Technologist
- Engineer and model designs efficiently using technical and 3D/BIM modeling skills
- Lead or assist in engineering the public health/fire design within project teams
- Develop line diagrams of public health/fire installations and coordinate with other disciplines for space reservations
- Model public health/fire installations in 3D Revit/BIM based on diagrams and space reservations
- Ensure models incorporate functionality, mountability, accessibility, and maintainability for construction clarity
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams across borders
- Contribute to project execution, optimize internal processes, and share knowledge, including mentoring juniors
