Introduction

The SIU has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Talent to join our dynamic team. Our team is passionate about fighting corruption and recovering financial losses suffered by the State. The SIU invites suitably qualified and experienced applicants to apply for this opportunity to serve in the Unit.

Description

Main Purpose: To oversee all provincial operations within the Eastern Cape Province, ensuring efficiency and quality of investigations. To lead and manage the provincial caseload, maintaining the viability of the province as a going concern. To provide leadership for staff members and lead stakeholder interactions and business development within the province.

Demonstrable experience in leading investigations, practical experience in strategic planning and implementation, and exposure to reporting to oversight committees such as National/Provincial SCOPA, Office of the Premier, etc.

Key Performance Areas (including but not limited to):

  1. Provincial Strategic Planning & Implementation
  2. Provincial Business Development
  3. Provincial Investigation Portfolio Oversight
  4. Provincial Budget Management
  5. Provincial Office Management
  6. Stakeholder Relations Management
  7. Staff Management

Required Knowledge and Behavioural Attributes:

  • Thorough knowledge of laws, rules, and legal precedents related to evidence, premises searches, and interview techniques.
  • Sound knowledge of applicable legislation (e.g., Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law of Evidence).
  • In-depth knowledge of investigation techniques and understanding of the public sector environment and legislative practices.
  • Knowledge of financial principles, PFMA, MFMA, corporate governance, ethics, and IT systems.
  • Proficiency in project management and advanced MS Office skills.
  • Strategic thinking, attention to detail, deadline-driven, collaborative, customer-focused, able to work under pressure, and results-oriented.

Minimum Requirements

LLB or B Honours in Accounting, Forensic Accounting, Business Management, or relevant field (NQF 8). Eight to ten years’ experience in a corporate or professional services legal/forensic/accounting environment, with at least five years in senior management.

  • The appointment is at the Unit’s sole discretion; no obligation to appoint.
