Protective Service Officer - Salt Lake City, UT

This position reports directly to the Site Supervisor and is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers, and visitors.

Essential Functions

  • Read and understand English to effectively follow printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training materials.
  • Communicate effectively in person and via electronic devices (telephone, radio) in English with co-workers and the public.
  • Maintain a professional, tactful, and courteous demeanor in stressful situations.
  • Compose clear short paragraphs, reports, and other documentation in English.

Job Duties

  • Perform security patrols.
  • Enforce access control procedures.
  • Protect property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire, and accidents.
  • Investigate incidents and write reports on accidents, suspicious activities, hazards, and other security-related issues.
  • Assist customers, employees, and visitors in following departmental procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Must be a Lawful Permanent Resident with verifiable honorable discharge from any component of the U.S. Armed Forces or a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess a Social Security Card issued by the SSA.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have one of the following:
    • 2 years of armed security or law enforcement experience, or
    • 2 years of military service (active or reserve) with honorable discharge.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Additional Eligibility Requirements

  • Pass pre-employment medical exam and drug screening.
  • Pass background and credit checks as applicable.
  • Favorable FPS Fitness Determination.
