Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Manage, plan, and coordinate work for the surveillance team through effective liaison with other Protection Services Managers.
- Schedule work for the surveillance team.
- Continuously liaise with the Head of Protection Services to determine priorities and provide feedback.
- Determine and manage projects to address client needs.
- Provide progress reports on surveillance activities and projects to clients.
- Monitor security indicators and trends in the organization to identify surveillance needs.
- Ensure resources are allocated effectively to support surveillance activities.
- Implement contingency plans to protect surveillance teams from risks in adverse conditions.
- Identify best practices applicable to surveillance through benchmarking other organizations.
- Identify situations requiring external expert advisors or other divisions of Protection Services.
- Verify the reliability of gathered information.
- Advise management on effective surveillance approaches and technologies relevant to security risk management.
- Manage large surveillance projects involving other security agencies.
- Ensure surveillance is conducted according to set procedures and best practices.
- Ensure effective application of surveillance technologies.
- Develop relationships with internal and external service providers.
- Ensure effective communication systems to support investigations.
- Maintain open two-way communication with employees.
- Ensure a safe and productive work environment and set targets for improvement.
- Support and participate in training and development, especially regarding new systems and practices.
- Ensure employees have clear work expectations and plans.
- Interview potential recruits.
- Handle disciplinary and grievance inquiries.
- Identify and minimize potential conflict situations.
- Manage discipline fairly and make equitable decisions regarding employee relations.
- Foster cultural diversity and inclusion.
- Identify ideas to increase motivation.
- Ensure fair work allocation and assess employee competency.
- Mentor surveillance personnel for personal growth.
Qualifications:
- National Diploma in Security Management or equivalent.
- B Tech in Security Management or equivalent NQF level 7 (Degree) will be advantageous.
- Registered with PSIRA at grade A.
- Valid driver’s license (Code B).
- CCTV advanced surveillance skills and body language course.
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in security or related environment, with exposure to investigation, crime analysis, information gathering, or surveillance.
- At least 5 years’ experience in security management.

- Knowledge of strategic and operational planning and management.
- Proficiency in organizational systems.
- Understanding criminal behavior and suspect profiling.
- Basic business communication and report writing skills.

- Threat and risk assessment, crisis management, and security legislation knowledge.

- Clean criminal record, able to pass polygraph test.
