PURPOSE OF ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Proposals Manager to lead and oversee our Proposals department, ensuring the delivery of accurate, compliant, and professionally crafted proposals that align with company objectives. This role is critical in managing the end-to-end proposal process, from evaluation of business opportunities through to contract award, while maintaining strict adherence to established procedures and governance requirements.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Managerial Responsibilities
- Track and report on all proposals in progress and submitted proposals to senior management
- Implement and continuously improve proposal preparation procedures and processes
- Participate in management meetings and align proposals processes with overall business strategy
- Lead, manage, and coach the Proposals department team to achieve departmental objectives
- Ensure full compliance with tender requirements and shareholder governance standards
- Conduct performance appraisals and recommend training for team members
- Control proposal development costs within approved budgets
Proposals Execution
- Evaluate new business and project opportunities presented by various Divisions
- Support Divisions throughout the tender process and facilitate Go/No-Go decision meetings
- Coordinate with multiple departments to establish proposal schedules and deliverables
- Supervise proposal team members including administrators and estimators
- Manage risk reviews, cost estimates, and commercial/technical exception assessments
- Oversee board approval processes for applicable proposals
- Coordinate legal review of all commercial terms and contracts
- Facilitate key review meetings and ensure proper governance and sign-off procedures
- Ensure timely submission of compliant, professionally produced proposals
- Handle client queries and clarifications during adjudication processes
- Support contract review and finalization upon award
QUALIFICATION
- BTech or Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferably Electrical, Process or Mechanical)
- Good knowledge of NEC and FIDIC contracts
- Project management qualification or certification
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 8-10 years of engineering work experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in detailed proposal preparation
- Minimum 3 years managing a team
