Job Purpose

The Property Manager is responsible for all aspects of operations, day-to-day staff management, and guest engagement.

They should be an ambassador for the brand and provide leadership to all departments to maximize operations and guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a professional with outstanding management skills and extensive hands-on experience.

They must be available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the operations functions of the property
  2. Hold regular briefings and meetings with staff members
  3. Ensure full compliance with operating controls, SOPs, policies, procedures, and service standards
  4. Lead all key property issues including capital projects, customer service, and refurbishment
  5. Handle complaints and oversee service recovery procedures
  6. Manage ongoing profitability of the property, ensuring revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met and exceeded
  7. Deliver hotel budget goals and set other short and long-term strategic goals for the property
  8. Develop improvement actions and carry out cost savings
  9. Understand financial statements and react with impactful strategies
  10. Closely monitor the hotel's business reports daily and make decisions accordingly
  11. Assist in the procurement of operating supplies and equipment and contract with third-party vendors for essential services
  12. Act as a final decision maker in hiring key staff
  13. Respond to audits to ensure continual improvement
  14. Participate in new client acquisition with the sales team as required
  15. Safeguard the quality of operations during audits
  16. Ensure compliance with legal requirements, Occupational Health & Safety Act, fire regulations

People Specification

Essential Qualifications: Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate

Preferred Qualification: A degree / diploma in hotel management or a related field

Minimum Experience Level: 5 years in hospitality management or similar
