Job Opportunity: Transport Infrastructure Project/Contract Manager Level 3

You may have been part of some big projects before, but this work is legacy building.

Your skills will be instrumental in designing and delivering cutting-edge solutions that enhance mobility, sustainability, and safety for millions of people.

In this role, you'll:
  1. Be responsible for the development, management, and implementation of transport infrastructure projects to achieve Transport for NSW and Government road safety, asset management, and network efficiency objectives.
  2. Provide efficient and effective project and contract management services, ensuring projects are developed and delivered on time, within scope and budget, and meet quality standards and objectives.
  3. Lead investigation, design, estimating, and procurement processes for nominated projects to deliver client objectives.
  4. Manage the development, tendering, awarding, and administration of professional service and construction contracts, controlling scope, risks, and issues while fulfilling the role of a TfNSW Representative.
  5. Deliver project objectives by demonstrating high-performance behaviors, including teamwork, initiative, and flexibility, and mentor less experienced team members.
  6. Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, colleagues, stakeholders, and partners to understand and manage risks and influence sustainable outcomes.

This is a fixed-term, full-time role (up to 30 June 2026) based in Newcastle.

About you

To qualify, you should have:

  • A four-year engineering degree from an Australian university or equivalent overseas qualification, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in project development and/or implementation of road and traffic infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of project development, contract management, risk assessment, and infrastructure maintenance and construction.
  • Understanding of technical aspects of materials, equipment, and techniques used in road and traffic infrastructure projects.
  • Project management skills and familiarity with computer-based project and information management tools.
  • A proactive, analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage time effectively and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • A current, valid Australian driver's license and willingness to work outside regular hours and travel occasionally.

The role is based in Newcastle, with regular office attendance and regional travel required, including working away from home when necessary.
