An electrical engineering firm in Nelspruit is seeking the services of a project support officer.
POSITION INFO :
The position provides support to various Project Managers and reports directly to the project department HOD. A Project Support Officer will perform the following specific roles:
- Ensure the agreed project management methods, standards, and processes are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist the Project Manager and Team Managers in the production and maintenance of project plans.
- Take responsibility for the transport and arrangements required on various projects.
- Assist the Project Manager in the execution of his day-to-day duties.
- Develop and maintain the project library, filing, recording, and reporting systems.
- Develop (in conjunction with the project department HOD) and implement appropriate configuration management procedures.
- Co-ordinate the production of all reports and produce project summary reports.
- Set up and maintain systems for recording project costs.
- Define and document procedures in accordance with agreed methodology.
- Advise and assist project team members in the application of project procedures, disciplines, and recording and reporting standards.
- Maintain risk and issue logs and change control records.
- Develop and support effective communication mechanisms between the project teams.
- Undertake any other administrative tasks as specified by the Project Manager.
Responsibilities :
- Reporting on progress, resources, or costing.
- Assist the Project Manager in overseeing projects, mitigating risks, and solving issues.
- Quality assurance, for example through collating data, auditing, or compliance checks.
- Scheduling meetings and setting agendas for the project team.
- Internal and external stakeholder management.
- Identify ways in which processes may be improved and put forward such proposals for the Project Manager to consider.
- Contribute to formal process reviews to help enable our teams to become more efficient in their processes.
- To be a clear, assertive, and patient communicator.
- Carry out any other duties and projects as required by the Project Manager, commensurate with the level of the post.
- To maintain a first-class level of customer service ensuring that all customers are treated efficiently and in an appropriate manner.
- To work within the relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- To attend training courses as identified and agreed for appropriate development.
- Undertaking other duties not specifically stated which from time to time are necessary without altering the nature or level of responsibility.
Requirements :
- Post Degree in Business Management, Project Management, or Electrical.
- Knowledge and experience of a formal project management methodology.
- A high degree of computer literacy including advanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite and a willingness and skill to learn new programs quickly.
- Project planning ability.
- Experience of working in a Project/Manufacturing environment.
- Ability to analyze and present information.
