BMF members continuously provide input to government, business, trade unions, and civil society.
The organisation proactively plays a leading role in policy formulation, strategic planning, and addressing key national issues. BMFI is an investment company whose values are grounded in socio-economic transformation, empowerment, and broader participation by black people in the South African economy.
Job Title: Managing Director
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
Role Purpose and Reporting Structure: The Managing Director serves as a positive, inspiring, and hands-on leader and coach. They mentor and model leadership in a diverse, dedicated team, often operating in low-resourced settings. As a recognised authority, they drive the BMFI agenda effectively by building support across sectors and fostering authentic, trusted relationships within the communities served. The Managing Director acts as the spokesperson for the organisation, attracting resources and driving revenue growth by engaging with senior executives, government officials, and global platforms.
The Managing Director has overall accountability, responsibility, and authority for managing the business, in line with the strategic plan and objectives approved by the Board.
Specific responsibilities include:
Minimum Qualifications: A relevant degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years' experience leading a business, department, or non-profit entity.
