KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage projects, programs, and operational budgets according to approved plans and target spending per quarter or project cash flow.
Infrastructure, Design & Construction
- Develop programs and projects from a list of activities and create an annual procurement plan.
- Deliver approved projects on time, within budget, and according to quality and safety standards.
- Manage consultants to ensure they meet project plans and objectives.
Procurement Plan
- Create and meet targets for procurement plans based on assigned projects.
- Develop stakeholder matrices, plans, and organize meetings.
- Ensure quarterly status project reports are submitted to clients or faculty.
Customer Focus
- Conduct bi-annual Facilities Department Customer Surveys in June and October for user feedback.
Preferential Procurement Implementation
- Implement the NWU's guidelines and processes for preferential procurement.
- Ensure projects meet contractor-specified PPP targets early in the project lifecycle.
Risk, Compliance Management, and OHS
- Participate in an integrated risk and compliance management model, focusing on business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.
- Oversee safety processes including pre-tender safety risk analysis, evaluation of construction safety plans, and safety audits.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) in Construction or Built Environment (such as Construction Project Management, Construction Management, or Architecture).
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the Built Environment as a Construction Project Manager or Construction Manager.
