Job description

Introduction

Our client is recruiting for a Project Manager: Industry Competitiveness and Sustainability responsible for leading the implementation of projects that are associated with enhancing the operational cost-effectiveness of the minibus taxi industry. These may include the introduction of projects that may lower the operating fuel costs of the industry by introducing access to alternative fuel sources and refuelling infrastructure. The role reports to the Head of Projects.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Implement the portfolio of approved projects based on the PMO’s project pipeline.
  • Manage the project implementation lifecycle based on best-practice project management principles.
  • Engage with the minibus taxi industry to plan and deploy the agreed-upon projects.
  • Coordinate and manage the project’s cross-functional team and external subject matter experts as required from time to time.
  • Obtain and analyse data from the minibus taxi industry to develop business cases for project-specific parameters.
  • Apply best practices for developing feasibility studies and return on investment calculations.
  • Ensure that effective conclusions are determined for the self-sustainability ratios for a variety of projects, based on empirical evidence and realistic assumptions where appropriate.
  • Development of process maps for a project to align too, to be sustainable and guide the project handover (if applicable), at the point of sustainability.
  • Coordinate with the local minibus taxi association as the project develops with constant ‘go – no go’ checkpoints.
  • Develop templates for cost-benefit projections to reduce operating fuel costs for the minibus taxi industry, when incorporating the introduction of alternative fuels.
  • Ensure that the implementation/continuation of projects aligns with programme goals and objectives.
  • Escalate risks and challenges to the PMO Head for intervention and support.
  • Ensure proper stakeholder management and build a credible relationship between PMO and the minibus taxi industry as a whole.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • Matric/Grade 12
  • Proficient in English and at least 5 African languages
  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business Management, Business Administration, Economics or Project Management would be advantageous
  • Experience in developing business cases to prove feasibility
  • Familiar with self-sustainability and cost-benefit analytics
  • Experience in process map development
  • Solid project management implementation track record
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office & other software systems
  • Must have own transport
