The Health Promotion & Wellness (HIV/AIDS) unit of the University of the Western Cape (UWC) is seeking to appoint a qualified Project Manager permanently to lead the management and implementation of strategic and operational projects.
The successful candidate will facilitate timely decisions to maintain project schedules and budgets, provide regular updates and reports to the Director, build trusting relationships, and identify and manage project risks. They will work closely with the Director in conceptualizing and implementing the unit’s vision and programmes.
Reporting to the Director: Health Promotion & Wellness (HIV/AIDS), the duties and responsibilities include:
- Conceptualize, implement, and evaluate multiple programmes aligned with the unit’s focus areas under the guidance of the Director.
- Assist with the implementation of all programmes, including recruitment, training, mentoring of peer educators, peer-led activities, campus and community outreach, monitoring and evaluation, record keeping, and grant compliance.
- Build and manage relationships with stakeholders across various levels to ensure alignment with programme goals.
- Conduct consultations with internal and external stakeholders, clarifying roles and responsibilities.
- Manage project scope, time, budget, quality, risk, and resources.
- Carry out administrative duties, coordinate tasks, and apply conflict resolution skills to ensure timely completion of tasks within the University’s Project Governance framework.
- Oversee project team outputs, including personnel and volunteers, to meet deliverables within timelines.
- Facilitate decision-making and escalation processes for programme management.
- Create resource plans, including financial allocations, and clarify stakeholder roles.
- Manage project budgets, including forecasting and variance reporting.
- Identify risks and develop mitigation plans in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Provide regular project updates and reports to the Director.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, protocols, and monitoring tools, ensuring confidentiality and proper storage.
- Support funding and resource proposals aligned with the unit’s vision.
- Coordinate and implement the media and communication strategy under the Director’s guidance.
Minimum Requirements (Qualification, Skills & Experience):
- A relevant health qualification at NQF level 7.
- Registration as a health professional with the HPCSA.
- At least 5 years relevant experience.
- Experience and/or academic background in health intervention conceptualization, implementation, and evaluation.
