Technical Manager - Cape Town (REF: )

We are seeking an experienced project manager to join our expanding company. AVT and its services are technical in nature, requiring applicants to have previous experience within unified communications and/or audio visual industries.

Job Purpose: The project manager will be responsible for planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate internal and external resources, vendors, and stock towards project execution to meet customer and internal timeline and budget requirements.
  2. Ensure all projects are delivered within scope, with proper documentation and sign-off procedures.
  3. Develop project scopes, objectives, and specifications, involving relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  4. Ensure resource availability and allocation.
  5. Manage project changes using appropriate verification techniques.
  6. Measure project performance with suitable systems, tools, and techniques.
  7. Manage client and stakeholder relationships.
  8. Perform risk management to minimize project risks related to GP, SHE, and timelines.
  9. Report and escalate issues to management as needed.
  10. Establish and maintain good relationships with vendors and customers.
  11. Provide weekly progress reports, highlighting risks and mitigation strategies.
  12. Design and implement health and safety strategies in compliance with applicable laws and best practices.

Core Competencies: Strong leadership, effective communication, negotiation, risk management, organization, and planning skills.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. 2-4 years experience in the AV/VC field.
  2. 2-4 years relevant experience in technical fields, project management, and the building industry.
  3. Knowledge of PMBok and project management qualifications.
  4. Previous IT experience.
  5. Ability to supervise tasks and personnel to meet project timelines and budgets.
  6. Fundamental understanding of AV system functionality, installation processes, and techniques.
  7. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical and personnel issues.
  8. Ability to read and understand technical documents, such as drawings, schedules, and reports.
