Project Manager : Build Lead

An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced Project Manager : Build Lead to spearhead transformation across a vast portfolio of new builds and remodels in the sub-Saharan African region. This role, recruited on behalf of a market-leading client, demands a strategic mind with hands-on expertise in project and construction management, a sharp commercial edge, and a passion for sustainable innovation.

The successful candidate will oversee a system with annual capital spend exceeding R1.2 billion, ensuring consistent project alignment with broader strategic goals while delivering tangible efficiencies and savings. This role offers the unique chance to influence over 400 builds annually, helping to shape a smarter, more cost-effective, and environmentally conscious construction model.

Key responsibilities :

• Lead end-to-end project and cost management to drive a minimum 10% efficiency improvement.
• Support supplier management and procurement strategy to optimise capital expenditure.
• Collaborate with franchisees to reduce downtime and enhance project execution across the network.
• Pioneer innovative technologies and sustainable practices to enhance build quality and lower emissions.
• Manage cross-functional teams and external partners, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on cost, quality and delivery.

Requirements :

• 5-10 years experience in project and construction management, cost control, and supplier negotiation.
• Proven ability to lead multiple projects with a strong commercial and contractual acumen.
• Deep understanding of supply chain, procurement and life cycle costing.
• Background in retail or multi-outlet operations is advantageous.
• Relevant tertiary qualification required; postgraduate business or property studies a plus.
