Job Description
The incumbent is the Henry Fagan contact person and is accountable to the client for
- Project management services associated with multidisciplinary and other projects
- Guidance to clients on project delivery matters and process
- Providing technical project planning, management and oversight on key initiatives and implementation of projects
- Complete projects on time, within scope and budget while applying all aspects of the Quality Management Systems (QMS) that enables the business to retain its ISO 9001 accreditation.
This position reports to a Director: Water Infrastructureuntil such time that a revised team structure is approved by the business.
This incumbent will be based in Bloemfonteinbut may be required to undertake task in and travel to Henry Fagan offices and projects located outside of the Gauteng Province.
Responsibilities (not exhaustive)
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams on building and other infrastructure projects (e.g., retail, industrial, commercial, healthcare, human settlements, engineering services, etc.).
- Manage and control all aspects of projects from initiation to project close out.
- Oversee project production efforts to ensure that projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.
- Development of client brief and project scope of works.
- Project progress review – planed versus actual - weekly or as required.
- Implement remedial action plans to recover project time delays.
- Review extension of time claims or delays and make recommendations to the client.
- Regular site visits to determine progress of construction, quality, identify and assess risks and coordination issues etc.
- Provide or coordinate value engineering activities to be within budget.
- Manage projects costs in conjunction with QS to provide accurate reporting to client.
- Preparation of project plans, conducting project health checks and overseeing the implementation of recovery plans where necessary
- Assisting the Business Development team and the relevant Executive in identifying opportunities for tendering, preparation of requests for proposals and full tender proposals, that includes content such as pricing, methodologies, programmes, etc.
- Compile the relevant reports for the various stages of a project as required by the client or the business.
- Source professional partners with specialist skills for Consortiums or Joint Ventures and assess and recommend specialists for tendering purposes.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- BSc Eng/BEng/BTEch Civil preferred; Project/ Construction Management or any approved Built Environment Qualification
- +10 years construction project management experience/ 10 years’ experience in any built environment discipline
- Experience in management of project teams on multidisciplinary projects
- Registered as a PrCPM with SACPCMP (or qualified to apply – a submission plan will be requested in writing)
- An engineering, quantity surveying, or architectural background is advantageous
- Good Knowledge of quality management systems.
