Job Description

Description: You will:

  1. Plan, control, and manage project deliverables to ensure that customer needs are met from order receipt through to final acceptance.
  2. Manage the efforts of team members and third-party vendors.
  3. Manage the integration or delivery of deliverables directly to the customer or to support a major enterprise-wide project.

You will report directly to the Manager, Project Management located in South Africa, Rustenburg.

Required Education
  1. Further education in business administration or operations, an advantage.
  2. Excellent English language (verbal and written).
Experience Required for Professional Level
  1. Industry application knowledge is a pre-requisite.
  2. Conversant with MS Project and all MS software products (Excel, Access, Word).
  3. Typically, 3-5 years' experience in a software, process automation, or application engineering capacity.
  4. Minimum 3 years of proven documented project management experience.
  5. Contract management experience an advantage (e.g., NEC / FIDIC).

Must be available and willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays to meet customer project commitments. Must perform tasks in the office or outside the office as part of a project team. Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial plants and ships, which may require climbing, working in confined spaces, and other unusual work environments.

Responsible for the preparation and presentation of quotes, sales proposals, and contracts to the customer in compliance with company standards, obtaining the appropriate approvals. Consult with other departments on issues like pricing, product specification, warranties, and product adaptation to ensure that we provide the appropriate business and technical solution to the customer needs.

Functional Responsibilities
  1. May participate in the development of the business team plan.
  2. Perform all aspects of project management responsibilities.
  3. Manage execution of assigned projects within margin targets.
  4. Manage all resource demand and financial aspects of assigned projects.
  5. May apply complex and advanced project management and scheduling techniques.
Management Responsibilities
  1. Lead efforts of project personnel on complex projects.
  2. Mentor less-experienced engineers assigned to projects.
  3. Lead project teams typically employing up to 30 engineering professionals and coordinate activities with support teams and other capabilities.
  4. May lead internal project process improvement efforts.
Interpersonal Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for resource scheduling to meet project plan requirements.
  2. Negotiate and prepare change orders with customers.
  3. Serve as the primary contact with customers for assigned projects.
  4. Support an environment conducive to successful team interaction.
Business Responsibilities
  1. Be the Rockwell Automation representative for assigned projects.
  2. Complete responsibility for the successful outcome of projects. Manage single projects up to 1 M€ and a multiple project portfolio of up to 20 projects.
  3. May manage subcontracts including labour or fixed price deliverables.
  4. Responsible for meeting project schedule, margin, and customer satisfaction targets.
  5. Build partnerships at the business management level of important customers.
  6. Often lead efforts to prepare commercial strategy for complex system applications.
  7. Follow all applicable corporate, company, governmental, and regulatory procedures.
  8. Complete projects to the quality standards and constraints dictated by the business and the customer's industry.
  9. Ensure that all project administration is completed and project files are maintained.
  10. Work with the internal Proposal team to create priced proposals for existing and future customers.
  11. Primary P&L responsibility for managed projects.
  12. Full partner management of all projects.
