Job description

Minimum requirements for the role :

  • Must have a degree or diploma in Construction, Interior Design, Project Management, or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in commercial fit-out, interior construction, or office buildouts
  • Proven ability to deliver interior projects from concept to completion
  • Strong budgeting, cost control, and procurement capabilities
  • Skilled in project planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar)
  • Excellent communicator and stakeholder influencer
  • Familiarity with South African building, safety, and site compliance standards

The successful candidate will be responsible for :

  • Taking ownership of day-to-day site operations by coordinating contractors, monitoring workmanship quality, ensuring adherence to design intentions, and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Building, tracking, and controlling project budgets.
  • Handling procurement workflows, approving invoices and variations, and providing monthly financial performance updates to clients and internal teams.
  • Developing detailed schedules (Gantt charts), driving adherence to milestones, and conducting daily site progress reviews to resolve issues swiftly and keep projects on track.
  • Acting as the primary communication bridge, providing clear status reports to clients, design leads, and internal stakeholders.
  • Anticipating challenges and proposing practical solutions.
  • Working closely with procurement to tender, source, and manage the delivery of furniture, finishes, and materials.
  • Overseeing warehousing, quality checks, and site handover logistics.
  • Ensuring all site activities are meeting building and safety regulations.
  • Maintaining snag lists, overseeing defect resolution, and managing documentation (permits, site diaries).
  • Compiling as-built drawings, resolving punch lists, and preparing handover documentation.
  • Coordinating client sign-off and conducting post-occupancy reviews to capture feedback and improvement opportunities.
  • Leading project debriefs, documenting lessons learned, and refining delivery processes and templates.
  • Pushing for efficiency enhancements and improvements in client satisfaction.
