Job Purpose:

As a Project Manager in our Johannesburg office, you’ll be leading multidisciplinary teams on technically challenging brownfields projects, contributing to real, visible improvements in the industries we serve. The successful candidate will be responsible to ensure the successful implementation of assigned projects by working closely with the Director, Senior Managers, other Project Managers, Engineering Managers and Discipline Leads for Inland: SOEs and industries, Midrand.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • B.Tech, B.Eng, or BSc Eng. degree or similar, preferably in the field of Electrical, Control, Instrumentation, Chemical or Mechanical.
  • PMP or SACPMP registration will be an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant project management experience; Sasol experience will be an advantage.
  • Skilled in project planning.
  • Skilled in project controls.
  • Contract management experience; NEC3 contracting experience will be an advantage.
  • Experience in a multi-discipline project environment.
  • Driver’s licence and own transport.

Required Outputs and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to take projects from Pre-feasibility, Feasibility, Engineering & Design phase (Basic & Detail Engineering) to Execution (Construction, Commissioning, and handover to Client).
  • Responsible for executing projects effectively and efficiently within budget, on-time, to the required quality and safety standards.
  • Integrated project planning.
  • Control of various scheduling and project planning tasks.
  • Manage the cashflow on the project, including invoicing to the Client and managing sub-contractor costs.
  • Co-ordinate monthly progress meetings internal and external.
  • Resource planning.
  • Engage actively with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure they understand the scope and schedule.
  • Continuous engagement with Client and stakeholders regarding project related matters.
  • Proficient in contract management (NEC3).
  • Compilation of quotations and estimates for new projects.
  • Monthly reporting on the progress and performance of projects to the project sponsor and Client.
  • Projects to be executed will mainly be in the power and energy environment and could be multi-disciplinary, but with the main focus on electrical, control and instrumentation type projects.

  • Effective listening skills with flexibility in approach to solutions.
  • Knowledge of applicable health, safety and environment codes, standards, and legislation.
  • Ability to work well with others across the various disciplines, as well as excellent communication skills.
  • Lead and influence where appropriate.
  • Understand the logic of executing the full life cycle of projects.
