Job description

A well-established construction company operating in the civil engineering sector is seeking a skilled and experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to join their team in Kuils River. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for managing site operations, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a results-driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced project environment and has a solid understanding of construction processes, planning, and contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities :

Interpret project specifications, bill of quantities, and contractual documents

Prepare financial planning including break-evens, targets, and costing systems

Oversee arrangements for site establishment, services, organizational structure, and material ordering

Project Execution & Site Management :

Manage all operational aspects of civil engineering projects from inception to completion

Lead and coordinate site teams and subcontractors to meet production targets

Conduct daily and weekly planning with supervisory staff

Maintain open communication with clients, engineers, and local authorities

Monitor critical path and project timelines

Maintain cost control over labour, plant, and materials

Ensure accurate monthly progress claims and manage variation orders

Track and manage project profitability

Submit VAT invoices, completion statements, and claims on time

Quality & Compliance :

Ensure all work is completed to contractual and company quality standards

Enforce health, safety, and environmental compliance on site

Maintain secure, organized, and hazard-free working environments

Prevent defects through proactive checks and team instruction

Leadership & Communication :

Motivate teams and subcontractors to deliver high-quality work

Maintain industrial peace through sound labour relations practices

Represent the company professionally at all times and foster positive client relationships

Minimum Requirements :

Relevant Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or related field

Minimum 5 years of operational experience in a similar role within civil construction

SACPCMP registration (or similar) preferred

Strong knowledge of MS Projects and / or Candy

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

Strong understanding of construction methodology and contractual frameworks

Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills

Strategic and hands-on leadership

Strong planning and problem-solving abilities

Commercial acumen and cost management

Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines

Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations

Ability to work independently and in a team

Remuneration & Benefits :

Gross monthly salary : R75 000 – R100 000 (depending on experience)

Pension fund contribution : 5% employer and 5% employee

Pro-rata 13th cheque (paid in birthday month)

15 working days annual leave (includes compulsory December shutdown)

Monday to Thursday : 08 : 00 – 17 : 00

Friday : 08 : 00 – 15 : 00

Saturday / Sunday : Ad hoc basis as project requires
