Job summary

A growing renewable energy company in Durban is seeking a Project Engineer to oversee the full project lifecycle in solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role involves site assessments, client engagement for solar projects, and technical support. Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of industry experience and a relevant engineering degree. Travel across KwaZulu-Natal is expected.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years' experience in the solar energy industry.
• 3–5 years' experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Solid understanding of Grid-Tied Systems.

Growing renewable energy company seeks to employ a Project Engineer with experience across the full project lifecycle, from site assessment and modelling through proposal development and customer engagement to solution delivery and after-sales support. Durban based

For the position you would be required to have:

• B. Sc/ B. Eng/ B. Tech in Electrical Engineering
• 3–5+ years’ experience in the solar energy industry.
• 3–5 years’ experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Proficient in Excel for modelling, calculations, and proposal development.
• Solid understanding of Grid-Tied Systems: SolarEdge, Sungrow, Sunsynk, Huawei.
• In-depth knowledge of BESS systems: Sungrow, Atess, Sunsynk, SigEnergy.
• Commercial and Industrial Solar, BESS, Utility-scale experience
• Willingness to travel across KZN

Responsibilities would include you to:

• Conduct site assessments, data analysis, and translate findings into effective energy solutions.
• Engage clients on potential future solar farm projects (5–20MW scale).
• Prepare and present detailed proposals, models, and energy simulations tailored to client needs.
• Provide troubleshooting and technical support for operational sites where issues arise.
• Maintain clear, organised, and up-to-date filing and archiving of all technical designs for future reference and compliance.
• Act as the technical interface with clients, managing relationships and ensuring solution clarity.
• Collaborate with engineering and project delivery teams to ensure accurate and aligned implementation.
• Monitor market trends and competitor offerings to maintain a leading edge.
• Ensure engineering teams’ designs align with client expectations and technical parameters.
