Projects Engineer - Mechanical / Civil or Process Engineering

Woodmead based

R30000 - R40 000 depending on level of experience.

Position Info:

• Minimum requirements:
• Mechanical Engineering Degree essential
• Specialization in Mechanical / Civil or Process Engineering
• Experience in landfill gas projects is a plus
• Experience in the waste sector is a bonus
• Must have project experience in design and implementation
• Male only (note: consider legal and diversity implications)
• Open to all races
• Qualified with 1-2 years of experience
• Capable of travel within South Africa to project sites
• Able to walk in gas fields and landfill sites
• Willing to work both in the office and on landfill sites managing pipe work extensions and repairs
• Practical experience in gas collection system design and installation
• Civil work design and supervision experience
• Proficiency in Excel and Python
• Understanding of electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and automation systems
• Knowledge of natural gas and energy sector, capable of energy balance calculations and flow diagrams

Experience:

• Gas field and piping system installation and maintenance on new and existing sites
• Landfill-based working background
• Experience with instrumentation, fault finding, and QC systems

Operations:

• Support site technicians in operating gas fields and generators to maximize electrical output
• Provide training and backup support to operations technicians

Projects:

• Manage projects for new and extended generating facilities
• Design gas collection systems and equipment, oversee installation and commissioning
• Draft tender documents and manage tender processes
• Organize and supervise pumping trials and subcontractors
• Assist in procurement and maintain client and contractor relationships
• Perform any other tasks as required by management

Performance Targets:

• Meet budgeted output at sites
• Minimize operational costs
• Complete projects within budget and timelines
• Reduce capital investment costs
• Ensure compliance with environmental procedures and conduct monitoring and reporting
• Engage in environmental and emergency preparedness training
