Job summary

Boardroom Appointments seeks an experienced Project Manager in South Africa to oversee the installation and execution of large-scale engineering projects. You will manage multi-disciplinary teams, schedules, budgets and vendor coordination to ensure on-time delivery and quality.

You will communicate with clients and suppliers locally and abroad, travel as needed to machine manufacturers, and lead initiatives from design through commissioning and prototyping.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering degree in mechanical, mechatronics or electrical discipline.
• 1–2 years of project management experience.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks).
• Familiarity with ISO procedures.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Excellent numerical and financial acumen.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee installations of new multi-million rand machines and technology.
• Manage engineering and technical projects.
• Ensure customer satisfaction on engineering projects.
• Oversee machine and automation design projects.
• Develop project schedules and forecasts.
• Coordinate engineering deliverables and reporting.
• Plan and coordinate technical and management aspects of projects.
• Prepare engineering proposals and specs.
• Assist in pricing, scoping and design efforts for projects.
• Assist in compiling reports, plans, schedules and permits for projects.
• Implement successful engineering/automation projects.
• Communicate with clients, external customers and suppliers locally and overseas.
• Travel to foreign manufacturers to spec and sign-off machines if needed.
• Take responsibility for commissioning and running machinery.
• Participate in new product development and prototyping.

Job description

• B.Sc. Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering Degree
• Project Management Diploma would be advantageous
• Have at least 1 - 2 years Project Management experience
• Competency in 3D CAD design (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks)

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing installations of various new multi-million rand machines and technology
• Overseeing assigned Engineering and technical projects
• Ensuring customer satisfaction with respect to all Engineering projects

• Developing and implementing project schedules and forecasts
• Coordinating and checking of engineering deliverables
• Reporting monthly on project status and change orders
• Planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical and management aspects of projects
• Assisting in the preparation of engineering project and machine acquisition proposals
• Assisting in the coordination of pricing, estimating, scoping strategies for proposed projects and in the development and preparation of technical specifications
• Assisting in the preparation or modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, permits and designs for project
• Implementing successful engineering and automation projects
• Communicating extensively with assigned project Clients, external customers and suppliers, both overseas and local
• Travelling to foreign machine manufacturers to spec and sign off machines if needed
• Taking responsibility for commissioning and running multi- million rand machinery
