Job description

The Project Engineer will be responsible for fulfilling the role of the Network and Security Specialist as required for SANRAL tender specifications.

Further to the SANRAL tendered role, this person will be part of a team of people responsible for technology research and development of new functionality, and / or bettering of current functionality.

It may be a requirement for this person to lead this research and development team and requires extensive knowledge and experience in hardware and software development and management.

Depending on projects and status of company affairs at any given point, this person may be required to act as Project Manager to manage programs, resources and budgets as needed.

The Project Engineer will also be responsible for the Company's IT infrastructure and management of assets and IT staff.

Organogram This Position : Project Engineer Employment Specification Education & Experience (minimum requirements to perform the job) : Grade 12 Diploma or Degree in electrical engineering, computer science or a related field.

Professional registration – ECSA, PMP or IITPSA preferable.

Valid unendorsed Code 08 driver's license.

Planning and organising skills Physical Demands & Work environment : The physical demands are those required to work in an office and inside and outside of buildings.

Drive a motor vehicle according to standards on public roads An ad hoc amount of overtime and standby duties to be performed Work in all types of weather The work would require periods of extensive office-based work, and sometimes extensive periods of site work and testing Essential Duties and Responsibilities Project Planning and Strategy Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, budget, and resource allocation.

Create project strategies and define project objectives to align with the company's overall goals.

Conduct risk assessments, manage project risks and issues, develop and implement appropriate contingency plans to mitigate potential project risks Project program management Ensure project deliverable meet quality standards and are completed within budget and on time.

Compile and manage project installation plans.

Review and understand contractual specifications and obligations for each project and ensure projects meet specifications.

Oversee and manage ad hoc projects as and when required.

Team Leadership and Management Build and lead cross-functional project teams, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities.

Provide guidance, direction, and support to team members throughout the project lifecycle.

Foster a collaborative and motivating work environment to promote high team performance Plan and manage development activities and progress / performance.

Ensure collaboration between hardware and software development teams Develop test plans and coordinate comprehensive testing required Conduct regular performance evaluations and address any issues or concerns promptly.

Establish and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, providing regular updates and addressing inquiries.

Proactively manage stakeholders expectations and ensure their satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Execution and Monitoring Oversee and manage the design, build, and installation activities across multiple projects.

Monitor project progress, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Regularly monitor and communicate project status, milestones, and risks to stakeholders and management and highlighting and manage any issues that arise.

Collaborate with internal teams to continuously improve project management methodologies and processes.

Manage project meetings with customers and stakeholders, ensuring that all requirements are understood and met.

Ensure all documentation and records are maintained in a timely and accurate manner.

Ensure all health, safety and security policies and procedures are always followed.

Ensure that the company complies with all contractual obligations.

Maintain networks and relationships with stakeholders (internal / external) to effectively deliver technical advice and meet expectations.

Identify and promote efficiencies with the TCS environment.

Analyse user needs and hardware / implementation requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.

Handle hardware design and evaluate integration engineering.

Maintain subject matter expertise and maintain knowledge on all new and upcoming technologies.

Evaluate all system practices and recommend improvements and modifications to all systems to reduce cost.

Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.

Research and Development Investigate and apply newer and more cost-effective technologies Development of new systems (HW & SW for toll and non-toll projects).

Manage and integrate multiple development streams.

Conduct feasibility studies on identified technologies to determine if it is worth investing in.

Set goals for new developments, determine the required progress rates and plan resources accordingly.

Manage a team of individuals who works towards developing new toll system functionalities.

Identify other and related industries with potential for us to invest in and report to company management.

Evaluate current toll system functionality and plan in collaboration with the Scenivision development team possible solutions or improvements Network and Security Specialist Function as the Network and Security Specialist for multiple CTROM Contracts.

Collaborate with Tolcon group IT and design / manage company IT infrastructure in line with policies and procedures.

Engage in project negotiations to understand the client's requirements and develop proposal / s for infrastructure designs.

Manage any sub-contractors related to IT infrastructure when implementing designed solutions for clients and / or Scenivision.
