Job summary

Facet Engineering (Pty) Ltd, based in Chamdor, Roodepoort, seeks a seasoned Project Draughtsman to produce detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for process plants and conveyor systems. You will collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet client specs and industry standards.

The role demands deep CAD proficiency, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks to deadlines in a dynamic engineering environment within the agri-food sector.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar Draughtsman role.
• Diploma or certificate in Draughting or related field.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from the initial client brief through planning, design, fabrication, installation and final commissioning.
• Develop concept layouts, detailed designs, fabrication drawings, shop detailing and full project documentation, working with project engineers.
• Create accurate 3D models and 2D technical drawings in Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Prepare bills of materials, source and procure materials and buy-out items, and coordinate suppliers to meet project schedules.
• Track project progress through fabrication and installation, provide technical support and oversee site activities to deliver on time and within budget.
• Work with engineers and project managers to turn design specifications into detailed drawings.
• Assist with developing prototypes and manufacturing processes.
• Prepare documentation and technical reports for projects.
• Stay up to date with engineering technologies and industry trends.

We are seeking a skilled Project Draughtsman to join our dynamic team, reporting to our Technical Director. The ideal candidate will be creating detailed technical drawings, ensuring designs meet project specifications and industry standards. Also working in close collaboration with our manufacturing facility.

Experience You Bring:

• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar Draughtsman role.
• Diploma or certificate in Draughting or a related field.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Effective communicator who works well in a team.
• Experience in the agri-food sector or with conveyor systems (advantageous).
